We are a sports horse stud in Nottinghamshire with a herd of quality Trakehner and warmblood mares.

We use the very best Trakehner/warmblood competition stallions for our mares, selected from studs and competition yards all over the UK.

Our aim is to make a small but significant contribution to British breeding
, by using proven competition bloodlines from a selection of the best warmblood breeds.

TEAM SAXELBY!

Our 5 children have been introduced to a life with horses from a young age. We let the children help with the horses, whenever it is safe and appropriate to do so. All the children adore the mares and foals, although many hours are spent arguing about whose "very own mare" is the best!

Lucy has a Bachelor of Science degree in Equine Studies, a National Certificate in Horse Management and a National Diploma in Horse Business Studies. She also has various BHS exams, riding and road safety qualifications and has taught children and adults to ride in the UK and in Switzerland. She has worked in two Olympic dressage yards near Zurich, Switzerland, for riders Doris and Daniel Ramseier, where she rode Grand Prix dressage horses every day.

Besides equine activities, we both enjoy other sports. We (and the children) are equally obsessed with skiing (although we are not necessarily any good at it!). Jon enjoys competitive tennis and the occasional rugby match.

Lucy previously competed in sprint and olympic distance triathlons for Nottingham based Triathlon club TFN and has ran 10k's, half and full marathons.

In 2009 Lucy had to have an operation to remove a slipped disc, which was compressing her spinal nerves - her back is improving with time but can still sometimes get sore after excessive concussion, so out of choice Lucy has stopped running and tries not to do too much sitting trot!
